I am creating a new documentary titled “Have Fun, Ride a Bike”, an overview of the bicycle emporium Rockets & Rascals and their love of cycling.
I first visited Rockets when I attended a talk given by the Italian artist Paolo Cirio, where I was impressed by the fantastic design and style of the shop. I have been back to the café many times since and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming, giving Rockets a very positive atmosphere.
The friendly, outgoing staff helped calm my nerves when I first approached Rockets & Rascals with the possibility of making them the subject of my documentary and I was delighted when they liked my ideas and agreed to help. Since then, I have met and discussed with most of the staff about my ideas for the project and they have all been incredibly supportive and happy to help with anything.
My main stage of production has started, with interviews planned in the near future. I am pleased with the progress so far and I hope to move to the editing stage within the next week, ready to screen and release the final product on the 25th March.
I will be collaborating with several other media practitioners for this project – my largest crew yet.
My crew will assist me with all aspects of production, from camera operating and equipment to lighting and sound. I am looking forward to working with my colleagues, some of whom I have collaborated with in the past. I believe that with their invaluable assistance, this project will be a success.
I am also working with Sam Ware, a composer and musician who will be producing custom music for the documentary. This is the first time I have worked with Sam and I am very impressed by his enthusiasm and knowledge of his craft. I am glad to have such a talented individual on board to assist in areas that I believe will greatly improve the project.
